Hotel Porfyron

Welcome to Hotel Porfyron! A romantic boutique hotel in the picturesque village of Ano Pedina, located at 1000 metres altitude in the northwest of Greece: Zagori.
Porfyron means purple red, the color of the hotel, which stands like a red beacon between the houses in Ano Pedina, mainly built of gray stone. This picturesque town is one of the 46 still occupied Zagoria villages in the province of Epirus. It is located 35 kilometers north of Ioannina.

The hotel is located in the center of the village, opposite the church. It was originally built in 1850 as a doctor’s residence and has done service as a school for girls. Now, Hotel Porfyron offers eight spacious, tastefully decorated rooms. Each room is named after a famous mountain in Greece. The aristocratic house is restored in a sustainable way, keeping its original character, which carefully has been preserved. For example, all 160 year old ceilings are still in original condition. There is a lovely outdoor terrace and a beautifully landscaped garden.

Yiannis and Rita Kirligitsis-Berends, hosts of Porfyron, value the Greek tradition as high priority.
